David Garza, Executive President of the Tecnológico de Monterrey Education Group, contributed to the book México Exponencial (Exponential Mexico), a publication that brings together business and technology leaders who think about innovation and digital transformation.
Garza was the only representative from academia invited to participate, sharing the book with another 26 CEOs and executives from Banamex, Cisco MX, Google MX, Liverpool, Mapfre MX, Home Depot, to name but a few.
The Executive Group president claims that artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies represent a historic opportunity for Mexico’s development.
In his chapter, entitled We Have a Historic Opportunity to Leverage AI for the Benefit of Mexico, he talked about leadership in a time of tech disruption and the need to rethink organizational models.
This publication is a collaboration between NTT DATA Mexico and Forbes Mexico that includes interviews on the course of innovation and competitiveness in Mexico.
Leading in the age of artificial intelligence
Garza’s analysis points out that leadership today is more like an expedition than a predefined path.
He therefore proposes a philosophy that combines advanced technology with a profound human dimension.
“I would define leadership in this era as high tech and high touch. High-tech due to the cutting-edge environment and high touch due to the importance of the human aspect in the face of the changes we’re experiencing”, he says.
This approach aims to balance the accelerated adoption of technological tools with values such as empathy, ethics, and critical thinking, especially in the educational field.
“New technologies lead us to ask ourselves what new opportunities we have to advance our purpose”.- David Garza.
Education and innovation for a new era
In his analysis, Garza highlights that educational institutions have a key role to play in preparing talent with the skills to thrive in a world transformed by artificial intelligence.
He explains that Tec de Monterrey has promoted initiatives to integrate this technology into its educational model, from the development of platforms such as TECgpt to the creation of institutional structures dedicated to digital transformation.
Garza also points out that early adoption of technology has been in the Tec’s DNA throughout its history, positioning it as an early adopter in Latin America.
The goal is to train professionals who have the skills to collaborate with new technological tools and leverage them to generate social and economic impact, he says.

An opportunity for regional development
In his chapter, Garza also addresses the economic potential of artificial intelligence for Latin America.
According to his analysis, artificial intelligence and emerging technology could increase the region’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by more than 5% by 2030 if strategically integrated into productive sectors.
In order to achieve this, he highlights the importance of collaboration between academia, the private sector, and government, as well as promoting the training of specialized talent.
“New technologies lead us to ask ourselves what new opportunities we have to advance our purpose”, Garza says.
A book about leadership in digital transformation
The book México Exponencial brings together leaders from different industries who share experiences and strategies on dealing with technological disruption, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
This work features interviews with 26 CEOs and executives whose vision is shaping innovation and competitiveness in Mexico.
The publication, promoted by NTT DATA and Forbes Mexico, argues that digital transformation is not only a technological challenge but also a cultural and organizational one, in which leadership, strategic vision, and adaptability are essential.
Miguel Teixeira, CEO Iberia, International Organizations, LATAM and Consulting in Benelux and France at NTT DATA Inc, explains that México Exponencial was born out of a shared concern.
“Mexico has a unique opportunity to position itself as a leading technology hub. Answers emerge when we align vision, culture, and courage”.
According to José Roberto Arteaga, Associate Editor of Forbes Mexico, this book is a celebration of ideas that transform strategies into decisions capable of changing organizations and the country.
“México Exponencial is a tribute to those who are rethinking the present to build a better future, reminding us that true progress occurs when knowledge and technology are put at the service of people”, he says.
In this innovation ecosystem, David Garza brings the education sector’s perspective, emphasizing universities’ key role in training talent to drive technological and economic growth in the region.
